Veterinary clinic software where the owner books and the animal is the patient

At a veterinary clinic, the owner makes the appointment while the patient is their cat or dog, so the card has to hold details about both. Veterinary clinic software brings the vets' schedule, the sale of pet food and medication, and the vaccine stock together, so the front desk does not keep them in three separate notebooks.

The pet's name and species right in the appointment

A standard client card describes a person, while the vet needs to know about the animal before the visit. Additional fields extend the interface for the clinic: the clinic creates fields such as the pet's name, species or breed, picks the data format and decides whether a field is required. These fields can be shown in the online booking form, so the owner says which pet is coming while booking. Fields can also be added to lists and used as filters, so the clinic quickly finds, say, every cat owner. The setup is described step by step in the help article on additional fields.

A vaccination that takes the vaccine off the shelf by itself

The vaccine and the syringe are included in the price of the shot, so they are tracked as consumables rather than as a sale. A techmap linked to the service fills them into the appointment when it is created, and as soon as the visit is paid and saved with that status, the system lowers the vaccine stock on its own. The consumables tracking walkthrough shows how to set the usage norm from real figures.

Pet food and medication at the front desk after the exam

After an exam, the owner often buys prescription food, drops or a parasite treatment. A product that adds to the cost of the visit goes through the orders tab of the appointment itself, and if someone came in only to buy, the order is created separately. The product's price comes from the price list, and saving the order as paid both writes the product off the warehouse and records the payment in the register. When a supplier changes the price of a food, it is updated in the price list once, and every later order uses the new one.

Revenue, discounts and reviews from pet owners

When services and products go through the register under different categories, the cash flow report shows income from visits and from product sales separately. The clinic owner then sees whether the business rests on treatment or on the pet food shelf and plans purchases accordingly. Veterinary clinic software needs no separate accounting spreadsheet for this, because the category is chosen in the cash document itself.

Owners who have brought their animals to the clinic for years get a cumulative discount based on the number of visits automatically. Loyalty can be counted separately for one line of work, when only appointments for selected services go into the statistics, and a discount can be limited to holders of a certain card type, which is issued in the client details.

A post-visit survey can include a review screen, and the answer is then saved straight to the main database, with no separate tracking of reviews that came through surveys. Veterinary care is part of the overall medicine section, where it sits next to clinics that treat people.
