Medical lab software from the morning line to the last test tube
From the patient's side, a medical lab looks simple: walk in, give a blood sample, walk out. Behind that sits a morning rush in the blood draw room, test tubes and reagents that have to be on the shelf, and orders made up of several tests whose payments need to balance to the cent. Medical lab software keeps those pieces in one system, and the other formats of healthcare business are gathered in the section for medical practices.
The morning rush in the blood draw room
Many tests are taken on an empty stomach, so most people show up in the first hours after a collection point opens. The blood draw room is added as a resource, and its occupancy mode sets how many parallel appointments it accepts when it has several stations. Online booking then lets exactly as many people into a morning hour as there are stations, while a blood draw and a swab each take their own time in the schedule, because duration is set separately for every service. A room where samples are processed and nobody books can stay for internal records only, with its visibility in online booking switched off.
Tubes, needles and reagents
A techmap is linked to the service, listing the typical materials and their quantities: a tube, a needle, a wipe. Once the appointment is saved as paid, whatever is on the consumables tab is written off from the warehouse, and a lab technician can still change the materials for a particular visit. So that an empty box does not become a morning surprise, set up balance control rules, and the report will flag items that have dropped below the minimum you chose. The projected balance also counts warehouse documents that are not yet confirmed, so purchasing can be planned ahead.
Paying for an order of several tests
A patient often has several tests done at once, and the total is known before the visit. An online payment rule can require full payment at booking: if it is not made within the set time, the appointment moves to canceled status and the spot in the morning schedule opens up again. The status of every payment is visible right in the system. For a patient who arranged the visit by phone, the front desk can forward a payment link, or have them scan a QR code on site. If a visit is canceled, the money can go back to the client balance automatically and cover the next order. Whether to charge the full amount or leave payment to the patient's choice is discussed in the guide to prepayment for appointments.
A discount on a larger panel
A natural fit for a lab is a discount whose condition is the amount of that particular appointment: whoever orders a large panel of tests gets it automatically, with no math at the front desk. Regular patients who keep checking their levels suit a discount based on the total they have spent at the lab over time. A discount's scope can be narrowed to specific services, so a promotion leaves alone the tests you do not plan to mark down. Discounts that look at a patient's history only count appointments in certain statuses, so it matters that administrators close out visits on time.
