Dry cleaning software for drop-off points across town
A dry cleaner takes items in today and hands them back a few days later, and often not where they were cleaned: a coat is dropped off at a counter near home and processed at the plant. Dry cleaning software has to remember every item between those two visits, keep track of chemicals and packaging, and not lose money between drop-off points.
A counter by the subway and another in a residential area
Each drop-off point is set up as a separate branch, and the client picks the right one on the booking form from a list or a map. Branches have their own schedule, prices, cash registers and warehouses, as well as their own reminders and mailings, so a point that stays open late in the evening does not send the same messages as one with shorter hours. Bulky items such as curtains or comforters are easier to take in through online booking, so the counter clerk has time to inspect them. When it makes sense to switch to this structure is explained in the article on company branches.
The tag number that finds a jacket
The tag number, the number of items and the fabric type are recorded in additional fields on the appointment. Those fields can be added to lists through the list settings and given a filter type, so when a client walks in with a claim ticket, the appointment is found by its tag number instead of by scrolling through the whole day of drop-offs.
Solvent in canisters, a working bottle on the table
Chemicals and packaging get a separate warehouse for consumable materials, so they do not mix with products for sale, such as shoe care items. Large canisters are repackaged into working containers with a separate warehouse document. A service techmap fills the consumables into the appointment, and they are written off once the appointment is saved as paid.
A client who came in once before a wedding
A wedding dress or a suit is often a first and only visit. A discount tied to a visit number, for example the second one, gives a reason to come back with everyday clothes. A survey after pickup, sent through mailing planning, asks whether the stain came out and whether the pressing was fine. When a coat also needs shortening, see how a tailor shop runs its fittings, and related lines of work are collected in the home services section.
Down jackets in spring, curtains before the holidays: a dry cleaner's seasonal rhythm
Demand at a dry cleaner comes in waves: winter outerwear arrives in spring, curtains and tablecloths before the holidays. Ahead of each wave, the client base is filtered and an offer goes out only to the people it fits, and the SMS carries the dry cleaner's own name, so the recipient knows who is writing rather than taking it for spam from an unknown number.
SMS and email credits are bought in packages: the bigger the package, the lower the price of each message, and packages have no expiry date. Credits bought in a quiet month therefore wait for the spring wave and are not lost if a mailing has to be pushed back because of warm weather. In the gaps between waves, a reminder sent after an appointment and limited to coat cleaning invites the client back a season later.
