Renovation contractor software for crews working on several sites at once

A renovation company spends its days in clients' apartments and houses rather than in an office of its own: crews move between sites, materials are delivered for a specific room, and the owner wants to know when the tilers arrive and when the job will be handed over. Clients here do not choose a time themselves, so renovation contractor software is first of all a tool for the office manager who keeps every address in mind.

Two crews and three apartments

Each specialist or crew is set up as a resource, and every site visit becomes a booking for that resource on the real-time calendar. If the floor screed takes longer to dry than planned, the appointment gets longer on the calendar or goes to a different specialist who offers the same service. When the electrician has to run out for cable, a break is added for the current day, and if the electrician calls in sick, that day is simply removed from the schedule, which shows whose site visits need to be reassigned.

Tiles and primer for one particular apartment

The system can hold several warehouses, physical or virtual, so a large site can get a warehouse of its own with materials transferred there from the main one. Deliveries are recorded with a document that carries the purchase price, and suppliers are tracked as counterparties. After handover, an inventory count shows how much adhesive and tile is left over and what can move on to the next apartment. Setting up the item list and the opening balances is described in the step-by-step warehouse article.

The owner has to be home to open the door

A crew that arrives at a locked door loses half a day. A fixed-time reminder reaches the client the evening before the visit, and codes fill in the service and the start time. A services filter lets that reminder go out only before visits where the owner really has to be there, such as a measurement or a door installation, and leaves them alone once the crew already has the keys. The different reminder types are covered in the help center's reminder guide.

Work stages on site and the keys to someone else's apartment

An apartment renovation is made up of stages that different people handle: demolition, electrical, plastering, tiling, painting. Each stage is worth setting up as its own service, and the resource settings then list which services a given specialist or crew performs. That way a tiler cannot end up booked for wiring, and the calendar shows which stage each site is at and who is coming next.

Who on the crew has the apartment keys right now, the building entry code and the phone number of the neighbor who takes in material deliveries are all worth recording in the appointment's additional fields, which employees can see as well, so the crew arriving for the next stage does not call the office or wait at the door while someone tries to remember where the keys are.

Once the site is handed over, the owner receives a survey, timed through mailing planning, about whether everything turned out right. Related products the client buys along with the renovation go through as an order and leave the warehouse once it is saved as paid. The remaining home-related formats are gathered in the household services sector overview.
