Hair salon software for cuts and color that run at different speeds
In a hair salon one stylist can do several quick men's cuts in a day and one color service that takes up most of the shift. These services are paid differently, fill the schedule differently and bring clients back at different intervals, and hair salon software has to account for all three differences.
Color pays a different commission than a cut
The appointment pay rule has a standard rate, but individual services can get their own rate, which is used instead of the standard one. That way a colorist earns their own percentage on a complex color and a different one on a men's cut, with no separate spreadsheet for each stylist. For anyone on a fixed rate, it is set per hour, per day or per month, and a rate plus a percentage are combined in one scheme.
Empty weekday mornings
Evenings and Saturdays in a hair salon tend to be booked solid, while a Tuesday morning is often wide open. A discount can be limited to certain days of the week and certain hours, and also to specific services or resources, for example only the junior stylists. It then applies only to visits in those hours, and at peak times the price stays the same. A discount can also be manual: it is not applied on its own, and the administrator adds it when a client calls and asks about an open morning. The article on appointment discounts walks through building one.
A popular colorist booked weeks ahead
When a stylist's open slots are taken weeks ahead, clients sometimes book several dates at once and show up for only one. A rule on repeat bookings within a chosen period warns the administrator, and for the colorist you can also turn on a limit on visits to the same employee. A warning blocks nothing: the person at the front desk sees it and decides whether to keep the booking.
The color formula in the client's card
As soon as a color service is finished, the stylist adds to the card in the mobile app which shade and which mix were used. When the client comes back for a root touch-up, someone else on the team can take them and skip the round of questions. That way the client does not depend on a single colorist who is out sick or on vacation.
Which stylists keep their clients coming back
The employee retention report shows how many of each stylist's clients came back within the return period you set. A service filter lets you count cuts and color separately, since clients return for them at different intervals and one combined figure would blur two different patterns. The article on the retention report explains how to read its columns, and the same report shows who on the team has earned a bonus.
A reminder before the visit matters more for a long color appointment than for a cut: if the client forgets, several hours of a colorist's work sit empty. Reminders go out by Telegram, SMS or email, and text messages carry the salon's name as the sender.
The Lost clients report opens the client list with a filter already applied, so you see only the people who have not booked at all within the chosen period. Hair salons are part of the catalog of solutions for the beauty industry, alongside barbershops and beauty salons.
