Driving school software for classroom theory and behind-the-wheel lessons
A driving school combines two schedules that follow different rules. Theory is taught to groups in a classroom on a schedule set in advance, while a student takes behind-the-wheel lessons one-on-one with an instructor at hours that suit them both. On top of that, someone has to track how many practice lessons each student has left. Driving school software has to run both flows, count paid lessons and show instructors their day.
Enrolling a theory group
Each theory class is an event with a date, a teacher and a seat limit set by the number of chairs in the classroom. A student signs up through a dedicated form that lists the upcoming classes rather than free hours. The administrator sees how full each group is and decides whether to open a new intake or fill the current one, while group occupancy statistics suggest when to announce the next enrollment. If a lecture moves to another day, a group operation moves everyone signed up at once, and nobody has to make individual calls.
A pack of driving lessons
Practice is usually bought as a pack, so it fits a membership for a number of visits that applies only to the driving service. A student books a free hour with their instructor online, and the membership they already hold covers the lesson on its own. If the school sells lessons on a practice lot and lessons in city traffic separately, each format gets its own service and template, so one pack is never deducted for the other. A substitute instructor sees the lesson in their schedule as soon as the administrator drags the appointment over to them. The evening before a lesson, at a set hour, the student gets a reminder with the instructor's name and the meeting time, so nobody shows up on the wrong day.
Paying the instructor for every lesson
A lesson paid with a membership may show a zero price on the appointment, yet the instructor is still owed their pay. The accrual rule for appointments can be set to count the membership price: the system divides the membership cost by the initial number of visits and uses that average amount in the calculation. For the theory teacher there is a separate rule for events, where pay depends on the number of participants in the group. Rules are combined into a scheme and assigned to specific instructors, as the article on accrual schemes describes in detail. Payouts can be made for different periods, and penalties and bonuses are added separately from the base amount.
An instructor's day on the phone
An instructor spends most of the day in a car, not at a computer. In the free staff app, they see their lessons for the day and the week, open the student's card and record the result of the lesson, so the administrator knows what has been covered and does not call in the middle of a drive. The lightweight app runs fine on an inexpensive phone because it rarely needs updating. If a lesson is canceled, the student gets a status change notification instead of finding out at the meeting point. Related types of teaching are collected on the education section page.
